The 1st song that I remember of Manna Da is from Mere Huzoor " Jhanak Jhanak Tori Baaje Payaliya " composed by Shanker Jaikishan. This was one of favorte songs of my Late father. Many of our(mine & Dads) favorite all time classical Hindi film songs are By Manna Da.

                       His music inspiration came from his paternal Uncle Krishna Chandra De or popularly known as K.C.Dey who was a very famous composer & singer along with Pankaj Mullick  during the 1930's he worked for New Theater group and was responsible for much acclaim of Kundan Lal Saigal & Pankaj Mullick and also a guru of Sachin Dev Burman Da. Though it is said that the first Song Manna Day Sang was in 1943 for the film Tamanna but if I am not wrong this is the 1st ever song which Manna Dey Sang. " Ajab Vidhi ka Lekh, kisis se padha na jaaye " from the film Ram Rajya
